1. The Biltmore Los Angeles

This century-old downtown landmark hosted the Academy Awards in its early years and still feels like a living film set.
It sits across from Pershing Square in the heart of DTLA. You can walk to museums, coffee spots, and restaurants, or hop the Metro in a few minutes. Rooms feel classic and comfortable, with vintage touches; some bathrooms are compact and soundproofing is modest.
History is the draw here. Hallways double as a gallery of Hollywood photos, the grand ballrooms shine, and the Gallery Bar pours solid cocktails with occasional live music. The indoor, tiled pool adds a quiet break from the city. It suits film lovers, architecture fans, couples chasing old‑glam nights, and business travelers who need a central base.
There are tradeoffs. Downtown energy is real: street noise and events from the square may carry at night. On-site parking is pricey and in a separate garage with a long spiral drive.
Pros
- Historic landmark with ballrooms and lobby celebrating a century of Hollywood.
- Across from Pershing Square with Metro access within a short walk.
- Atmospheric Gallery Bar with friendly service and occasional live music.
- Indoor tiled pool and gym for a break from downtown.
Cons
- On-site parking is expensive and located in a separate garage.
- Some rooms feel dated with small bathrooms and thin walls.
- Street noise and Pershing Square events may carry into certain rooms.

We watched the Pershing Square ice rink from our room, then ended the night with live music in the Gallery Bar. Classic LA moment.
