Why it stands out

Big, balcony-topped suites with dressing rooms, a 10–15-minute walk to Rodeo Drive, and a rooftop pool with views make L’Ermitage a quiet Beverly Hills hideout.

Set on Burton Way in a calm residential pocket. Coffee shops and markets sit a few minutes away on foot. The Golden Triangle is close enough to walk, but far from the crowds. Suites feel residential: generous seating, king beds, balconies for fresh air, and a separate dressing area. Bathrooms bring deep soaking tubs and bright vanity lighting.

Service is the headline here. Staff learn routines, offer thoughtful touches, and a complimentary house car handles short hops to dinner. The rooftop pool is a peaceful perch for sunrise and sunset. Couples celebrating, solo business travelers who value quiet, and families who need space all fit well.

The gym is small and fills up fast, and valet parking is expensive. If a lounger by the pool matters, arrive early on sunny days.

Pros

  • 10–15-minute walk to Rodeo Drive and Beverly Hills shopping.
  • Large suites with balconies and separate dressing areas.
  • Rooftop pool with views and a calm, private vibe.
  • Complimentary house car for short trips to nearby restaurants.

Cons

  • Valet parking is expensive for multi-day stays and daily use.
  • Small gym with limited space and equipment during peak times.
  • Pool loungers scarce at times, and bar service can be slow.

What travelers say

E

Eleanor S.

My suite had a big dressing area and a sunny balcony. The house car dropped me for dinner, and I walked back in the cool evening.

Why it stands out

Casa Del Mar is one of only two Santa Monica hotels set directly on the sand, so you wake to ocean views and step onto the beach in seconds.

The hotel sits on Ocean Way with the beach path out front. It is a five-minute walk to Santa Monica Pier. Venice is an easy ride along the shore on the provided bikes. Rooms feel calm and coastal, with plush robes, bathtubs, and very comfy beds. Book an ocean-view room to frame the pier and waves right from bed.

What stands out here is the oceanfront vibe all day and night. The lobby lounge brings live music and sunsets through tall windows. Complimentary bike loans and a local car service make short trips simple. It suits honeymooners and celebration getaways. Beach-loving families will like the sand out front and the heated pool and jacuzzi. Solo travelers feel welcome and safe.

There are tradeoffs. The pool is small, more for a dip than laps. The lively lobby and occasional events can crowd the lounge and slow dining during peak times.

Pros

  • Direct beachfront location with ocean views from many rooms.
  • Five-minute walk to Santa Monica Pier and beach path to Venice.
  • Complimentary bike loans and local car service for nearby trips.
  • Live music in the lobby with ocean views at night.

Cons

  • Small pool; better for a quick dip than swimming laps.
  • Lobby lounge crowds during events, with slower bar or lounge service.
  • Exterior windows may be dirty, muting the ocean view.

What travelers say

R

Ruby G.

Borrowed the free bikes and cruised to Venice at sunset, then ended the night with live music in the lobby. Woke up to the pier right outside our window.

Why it stands out

Set at the exact corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Rodeo Drive, Beverly Wilshire puts world‑famous shopping and people‑watching right outside the front door.

This is Beverly Hills’ most photographed block, and much of it is walkable. Step to Rodeo’s boutiques, then wander to cafés on nearby streets for a casual bite. Rooms vary by wing and outlook; higher floors bring wider city views, and some have balconies. Expect marble bathrooms and classic decor, though a few older layouts feel tight in the shower.

Service is the headline here. The concierge team is lauded for thoughtful help, and a complimentary house car eases short rides around Beverly Hills. Dining spans polished terrace tables along Wilshire and a destination steakhouse, CUT by Wolfgang Puck, for serious carnivores. This setup suits style‑seeking couples, a parent‑child shopping trip, or a business traveler who values a refined base with quick access to meetings nearby.

There are tradeoffs. The pool is on the smaller side and sits in shade much of the afternoon, and parking is valet‑only with premium pricing—better for shoppers than sun chasers.

Pros

  • One‑minute walk to Rodeo Drive boutiques and cafes in Beverly Hills.
  • Complimentary house car makes short trips around the neighborhood easy.
  • Staff and concierge draw strong praise for attentive, personal service.
  • Outdoor dining on Wilshire and a celebrated on‑site steakhouse, CUT.

Cons

  • Valet parking is expensive; no self‑parking option on the property.
  • Pool is small and often shaded during afternoon hours.
  • Some rooms feel dated, with tight shower layouts in older configurations.

What travelers say

N

Nora F.

The house car dropped me at Rodeo Drive in two minutes, then Alex at reception still remembered my name later. Little touches like that made the stay.

Why it stands out

Once nicknamed the “West Coast White House,” Fairmont Century Plaza revives an L.A. icon with a rooftop pool and an expansive, well-equipped gym.

It sits in Century City, across the road from Westfield Century City. Shops, cafes, and a cinema are an easy walk. Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive are a short ride. Rooms feel modern, with clean lines, plush beds, and bright, well‑lit bathrooms. Some include balconies for people‑watching and sunset views. Entry rooms run smaller; suites add breathing room.

Fitness is the headline here. The gym is one of the biggest you will find in a city hotel, and the spa feels luxe and calm. The rooftop pool adds views and a laid‑back vibe. It fits business travelers working in Century City, couples on a spa weekend, and families booking roomy suites.

Expect premium add‑ons: valet parking is pricey, and sauna or steam access may carry extra fees, while front desk lines move slowly at peak times.

Pros

  • Across the road from Westfield Century City shopping and restaurants.
  • Expansive, well-equipped gym with many new machines and weights.
  • Rooftop pool with city views and a relaxed vibe.
  • Modern rooms with luxe bathrooms and thoughtful amenities.

Cons

  • Valet parking is very expensive compared to nearby options.
  • Additional fees for spa areas and an urban experience charge.
  • Check-in and checkout queues at busy times due to limited staffing.

What travelers say

E

Ella S.

Why it stands out

Built on the former House of Blues site, this West Hollywood stay pairs a rooftop pool with city views and a buzzing arts vibe on Sunset Boulevard.

Step outside to bars, cafes, and comedy spots in West Hollywood. Beverly Hills sits a short ride away. Many rooms frame hill or city views through big windows. Inside, spaces feel modern and colorful, not huge but smartly laid out, with cozy beds, adjustable temperature, bright task lighting, and strong showers that hit the spot.

Few hotels in the area pack this many fun extras under one roof. There’s a two-lane bowling alley, a cinema room, and an intimate live music venue. The rooftop pool and bar glow at sunset, with attentive service and wide views that keep the scene smooth even when it’s busy. With Merois, a solid gym, and a steam room, it suits nightlife fans, style-focused couples, and business travelers who want scene with service.

Expect loud music in common areas from morning; it’s more scene than sanctuary.

Pros

  • Excellent West Hollywood location on Sunset Boulevard, near Beverly Hills dining and bars.
  • Rooftop pool with sweeping city views and attentive poolside service.
  • Modern rooms with comfy beds, strong showers, and great natural light.
  • Two-lane bowling alley, cinema room, and intimate live music venue.

Cons

  • Spa offers a steam room but no sauna or indoor pool.
  • Pool scene gets crowded; loungers are scarce after late morning.
  • Loud music in common areas from morning reduces quiet time.

What travelers say

Jason B.

Why it stands out

One of the few LA luxury hotels where most rooms include a private balcony, Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills pairs indoor comfort with fresh air and views.

Set on Doheny Drive between Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. Walk 10–15 minutes on foot to Melrose dining and boutiques. The lobby shows striking art and opens to a neat garden. Rooms are quiet and well kept, with plush bedding and city or garden views. Suites add space for families or longer stays.

Service is the headline here. Staff greet by name, handle upgrades, and arrange late checkouts when flights run late. The concierge shines for restaurant planning. There’s a spa with sauna and steam rooms and a well-equipped gym. The palm‑lined pool deck has cabanas and attentive pool staff.

The pool area is lovely but feels compact during busy times, so arrive early if lounging is a priority.

Pros

  • Walk 10-15 minutes to Melrose dining spots like Craig’s and Cecconi’s.
  • Spa with sauna and steam rooms for guests.
  • Palm-lined outdoor pool deck with cabanas and attentive service.
  • Family-friendly extras, including baby cots and helpful amenities on request.

Cons

  • Pool area feels small during busy times and peak weekends.
  • On-site restaurant variety feels limited during longer stays.
  • Lounge bar ambience underwhelms compared with other Beverly Hills favorites.

What travelers say

A

Aubrey P.

Why it stands out

Set inside Frank Gehry’s The Grand LA, Conrad Los Angeles faces his Walt Disney Concert Hall, so you get art-park views from the rooftop pool and terrace.

The hotel anchors Bunker Hill in Downtown. You can walk a few minutes to Walt Disney Concert Hall and The Broad. Grand Central Market sits under 15 minutes on foot. Rooms feel calm and modern, with floor‑to‑ceiling windows, plush beds, and rainfall showers; many include in‑room espresso machines.

Dining is a standout. The restaurants by José Andrés draw locals as well as guests, from relaxed rooftop plates at Agua Viva to bright breakfasts at San Laurel. That mix suits culture weekends, concertgoers, and couples who want good food without leaving the building. Business travelers will like the quiet rooms and attentive service.

It’s valet‑only parking, which adds cost and a bit of wait at peak times.

Pros

  • A few-minute walk to Walt Disney Concert Hall and The Broad.
  • Heated rooftop pool with city views and relaxed service.
  • On-site restaurants by José Andrés, including San Laurel and Agua Viva.
  • Rooms include espresso machines, plush beds, and rainfall showers.

Cons

  • Valet-only parking with high fees, no self-parking option.
  • Limited late-night dining within walking distance in this area.
  • In-room lighting controls and shower water pressure inconsistent in some rooms.

What travelers say

Why it stands out

Actress Beverly Garland opened this retro Studio City hideaway in the 1970s; today it pairs groovy style with a free trolley to Universal Studios Hollywood and a lively, heated pool scene.

Set just off the 101, the hotel sits in Studio City. A grocery and several restaurants are a short walk, and Ventura Boulevard is close for more options. Universal is a quick shuttle hop away. Rooms feel smart and cozy, with retro touches, comfy beds, and balconies in many. Expect a coffee maker and mini-fridge, plus bathrooms with plenty of shelving for families.

This place shines with easygoing, outdoor fun. The pool deck glows at night with string lights and a heated pool with dive‑in movies. Lawn games and a friendly vibe make downtime simple. The Front Yard and pool bar handle bites when you want to stay put. Families bound for Universal, wedding groups, and business travelers needing a North Hollywood base all fit well. Longer stays benefit from the on‑site laundry room.

There are tradeoffs. Freeway‑facing rooms pick up noticeable noise, and the Universal trolley seats are limited at peak times.

Pros

  • Free trolley to Universal Studios Hollywood and CityWalk, quick and simple.
  • Heated outdoor pool, hot tubs, and nightly dive-in movies for families.
  • Rooms feature comfy beds, balconies, coffee makers, and mini-fridges.
  • On-site laundry room with washers, dryers, and free soap.

Cons

  • Parking fee is high and the only practical on-site option.
  • Some rooms face the freeway, with noticeable noise on balconies.
  • No in-room microwaves as standard, even with fridge and coffee maker.

Set inside a 1931 Art Deco landmark, Sunset Tower pairs skyline views with Old Hollywood soul.

The hotel sits on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. Walk to bars, restaurants, and live music in a few minutes. Hollywood sights are a short ride away. Rooms mix restored details with modern comforts. Many frame downtown and the Griffith Observatory. Beds feel plush. Evening turndown adds small treats, plus replenished water and snacks.

What this place does best is atmosphere. The Tower Bar and the terrace deliver wide city views and a lively crowd, yet the service stays warm and polished. It suits couples who want a romantic city break, style‑minded friends planning a night out, and solo travelers chasing classic LA character with comfort.

There are tradeoffs. The pool area is compact and sits right by the restaurant, so lounging can feel public. The vintage elevators are very small, which will matter to claustrophobic guests.

Pros

  • 1931 Art Deco building with panoramic views from rooms and terrace.
  • Prime West Hollywood location on Sunset Boulevard, walk to dining and nightlife.
  • Beloved Tower Bar and terrace with classic vibe and great city views.
  • Attentive service with evening turndown, complimentary water, and snack basket.

Cons

  • Pool area is small and sits close to the restaurant tables.
  • Vintage elevators are tiny and feel cramped during busy times.

Why it stands out

It’s one of the rare LA luxury hotels with a complimentary continental breakfast, and most rooms are true suites with balconies.

Set on North San Vicente between Sunset and Santa Monica, it puts West Hollywood at your feet. Walk five to ten minutes to bars, clubs, and music venues on the Sunset Strip. A sightseeing bus stop sits across the street, and Beverly Hills and Melrose are a short ride. Suites feel airy, many with balconies and city views. Bathrooms bring walk‑in showers and soaking tubs, plus lots of closet space.

Space is the headline here. The rooftop pool with wide LA views is the place to linger after a day out. A house car for short local rides helps with dinners and shopping. Couples will love the views; families get room to spread out; business travelers have real desks and seating areas.

Valet-only parking adds time and cost, and grabbing something from the car takes a call. The rooftop pool sometimes closes for private events, so check ahead if pool time matters.

Pros

  • Five-minute walk to Sunset Strip bars, music, and late-night dining.
  • All-suite rooms with large bathrooms, many with balconies and city views.
  • Rooftop pool with panoramic LA views and a relaxed, non-clubby vibe.
  • Complimentary continental breakfast with pastries, fruit, and cold items.

Cons

  • Valet-only parking; retrieving items or fees add hassle for drivers.
  • Breakfast buffet repeats; espresso drinks and hot items often cost extra.
  • Street-facing rooms pick up traffic and nightlife noise at times.

Why it stands out

Luskin Hotel is one of the rare Los Angeles stays with a gratuity‑free policy, set right on the UCLA campus with a sunny courtyard at Plateia and art‑filled public spaces.

Step outside to campus paths; Royce Hall and the sculpture garden are a short walk. It’s a 10‑minute walk to Westwood Village for coffee, markets, and the Hammer Museum. Rooms feel modern and quiet, with sound‑insulating windows and comfortable beds; a light‑filled fitness center covers basics. Many rooms do not include a refrigerator or microwave.

Service stands out, with warm, professional staff and no tipping awkwardness. Plateia serves fresh, Mediterranean‑leaning dishes, with alfresco seating under olive trees. Dog‑friendly rooms and easy campus access suit UCLA parents, campus visitors, and patients with appointments nearby. It also works for business travelers attending conferences who want quiet evenings.

Between breakfast and lunch, the restaurant pauses service, so on‑site coffee can be scarce. If morning caffeine matters, plan a quick walk into Westwood.

Pros

  • 10-minute walk to Westwood Village restaurants and cafes.
  • Gratuity-free service across hotel and Plateia restaurant.
  • Plateia serves fresh, tasty dishes with relaxed alfresco courtyard seating.
  • Dog-friendly hotel with welcome treats and water bowl at check-in.

Cons

  • Many rooms lack a refrigerator and microwave.
  • Walls can be thin; noise from neighbors or nearby practice carries.
  • On-site coffee is limited when the restaurant pauses between meals.

Why it stands out

At Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, every room has a private terrace, so mornings start with open‑air views over palms and skyline.

The hotel sits where Wilshire meets Santa Monica Boulevard. It takes about 10 minutes on foot to Rodeo Drive for luxury shops and cafés. The area feels polished and safe, day or night. Inside, rooms are bright and quiet, with big beds, large soaking tubs, and powerful showers. Many have huge sliding doors that open to the terrace. Lights, curtains, and room requests run through an in‑room iPad.

Head up for the star move: a rooftop pool with 360‑degree views and a popular spot for lunch. Downstairs, Jean‑Georges runs the dining, and the La Prairie Spa handles pampering with ease. This place fits honeymooners, style‑minded shoppers, and solo business travelers who want comfort without stuffiness. Families who value space and calm will also feel at home.

One tradeoff: the rooftop pool and hot tub close early, so evening swims are off the table.

Pros

  • 10-minute walk to Rodeo Drive shopping and dining in Beverly Hills.
  • Rooftop bar and restaurant with wide city and Hollywood Hills views.
  • Spacious rooms with big bathtubs, strong showers, and blackout curtains.
  • On-site La Prairie Spa offering signature treatments and relaxation areas.

Cons

  • Rooftop pool and hot tub close early, limiting evening use.
  • Road-facing rooms pick up traffic noise during the day and night.
  • Occasional delays at 4pm check-in despite confirmed arrival time.

Why it stands out

Angel’s Flight sits beside this hotel, whisking you to Grand Central Market in about two minutes.

Set on Bunker Hill in Downtown Los Angeles, it neighbors MOCA and California Plaza. The Walt Disney Concert Hall is about a 10-minute walk. From here, you can explore on foot by day and feel safe at night. Rooms are quiet and clean, with comfy beds and, in many, skyline views. Expect a coffee maker and a well-kept bath; some layouts separate the tub and shower.

The standout is the free neighborhood car service, which shuttles guests around downtown and to Union Station. That makes it a smart base for concertgoers, museum‑hoppers, and business travelers with meetings nearby. Families like the calm setting and the small outdoor pool for a quick dip. Couples can turn it into a culture‑first weekend without needing a car.

Know that valet parking is expensive, and the multi-level entrance can confuse rideshares. The pool is on the smaller side and loses sun early.

Pros

  • Next to MOCA and Angel’s Flight, with Grand Central Market just below.
  • Free neighborhood house car for short rides around downtown and Union Station.
  • Rooms are quiet and comfortable, many with city views.
  • Complimentary lobby water, coffee, and light morning pastries.

Cons

  • Valet parking is expensive; nearby garages are cheaper but less convenient.
  • Small pool area with limited sunshine and a dated feel.
  • Multi-level entrance makes rideshare pickup and drop-off confusing for drivers.

Why it stands out

At The Peninsula Beverly Hills, a leafy villa courtyard meets a rooftop pool with cabanas, and a complimentary house car for short rides makes shopping runs and dinner drop‑offs easy.

Set on South Santa Monica Boulevard in Beverly Hills, it sits on a quiet block near the action. You can reach Rodeo Drive in minutes on foot. Locals book Afternoon Tea, and the lounge often has live music. Rooms feel residential, with soft colors, rich fabrics, marble baths, and blackout drapes. Some are cozy rather than sprawling, and not all have balconies.

Service is the calling card. Teams remember names and mark occasions, from anniversary cakes at breakfast to poolside cabana care. It suits honeymooners, shoppers, and business travelers who value privacy and quick help. Families can spread out in suites, villas, and apartments.

Know a few tradeoffs. Valet‑only parking adds waits and tipping moments, and there are no in‑room coffee makers; lobby coffee wraps up early in the morning.

Pros

  • Minutes on foot to Rodeo Drive shopping and dining.
  • Rooftop pool with cabanas and a relaxed, private vibe.
  • Complimentary house car for short neighborhood rides around Beverly Hills.
  • Beloved Afternoon Tea and a lively lounge with evening music.

Cons

  • No in-room coffee makers; lobby coffee only early in the morning.
  • Valet-only parking adds waits and frequent tipping moments.
  • Some rooms lack balconies or open views onto the city.

Why it stands out

Set on Sunset Boulevard, 1 Hotel West Hollywood pairs a biophilic, design-forward stay with a rooftop pool and a complimentary electric house car for quick trips around town.

The address puts you steps from Sunset Plaza and The Comedy Store. Cafes and bars fill the blocks, and buses run toward Santa Monica and Venice. Rooms feel calm: warm wood, live plants, and soft lighting. Many frame downtown or hillside views. Nespresso and tea setups help mornings start right.

Service and sustainability are the calling cards. Staff stay attentive and quick to help, from check-in to concierge. Fitness fans get Pelotons and a decent gym; the spa offers restorative treatments. It suits design lovers, couples chasing views, and business travelers who value quick rides and West Hollywood meetings.

There are tradeoffs. The rooftop pool is compact and loses sun by mid-afternoon. Valet costs add up, and rooftop spaces may host private events that limit access.

Pros

  • Biophilic design with greenery, wood accents, and calming natural scents.
  • Complimentary electric house car for short trips around West Hollywood.
  • Rooftop pool with skyline views and a lively weekend scene.
  • Peloton bikes in the gym and a soothing on-site spa.

Cons

  • Rooftop pool is small and shaded by mid-afternoon.
  • Valet parking is pricey compared to nearby self-park garages.
  • Some rooms lack desks, making laptop work setups awkward.

Why it stands out

The Penthouse rooftop restaurant on the 18th floor delivers wraparound sunset views, and you reach the sand and pier in 5–10 minutes.

Set on 2nd Street, the hotel sits a short walk from the beach, the Santa Monica Pier, and Third Street Promenade’s shops and cafes. The neighborhood feels lively by day and calmer at night. Rooms are spacious and spotless, with modern touches like high‑tech lighting and Nespresso machines. Upper floors frame ocean and mountain views; some rooms even catch the view from the bathroom.

What this place does best is scenery. Dinner or drinks at the top floor come with a coast‑to‑city panorama you won’t forget. Complimentary beach cruisers make it easy to roll along the path by the water. It suits couples chasing a sunset table, friends planning a stylish weekend, and families who want room to spread out without needing a car for every outing. Business travelers get a polished base with quick access to dining and retail for meetings.

There’s no full‑size pool, only a small outdoor hot tub, and valet-only parking adds cost. If you book a room directly under the rooftop, expect some weekend noise.

Pros

  • Rooftop Penthouse restaurant with panoramic sunset views over ocean and mountains.
  • Complimentary beach cruiser bikes for easy rides along the beachfront path.
  • 5–10 minute walk to Santa Monica Pier, beach, and Third Street Promenade.
  • Spacious, modern rooms with Nespresso machines and very comfortable beds.

Cons

  • Valet-only parking with high daily fees and no self-parking option.
  • No full-size pool; only a small outdoor hot tub on site.
  • Noise from rooftop venue may reach rooms below on weekend nights.

Why it stands out

Loews Hollywood connects directly to the Dolby Theatre, home of the Oscars, so you step from the lobby into Hollywood history.

Walk straight onto the Walk of Fame and the TCL Chinese Theatre. The Hollywood/Highland metro sits next door, so you reach studios and downtown fast. Shops, tours, and quick bites fill the attached mall. Many rooms frame the Hollywood Sign and the hills. Beds feel plush, and rooms stay tidy. A coffee maker is standard, and many rooms include a mini fridge.

This place is about access. It’s the easiest base for first‑time Hollywood trips who want the big sights at their doorstep. Families enjoy the heated outdoor pool and spacious options. Couples book sign‑view rooms for sunset photos. Business travelers get a proper desk, dependable service, and quick transit, while drivers like the connected self‑parking garage.

There’s a tradeoff to the location. The buzzing block brings crowds and a gritty street scene after dark. Some rooms and halls show wear, and paid extras add up.

Pros

  • Direct access to Ovation Hollywood mall and Dolby Theatre from elevators.
  • Hollywood/Highland metro station a few minutes away for easy city trips.
  • Many rooms offer Hollywood Sign and hills views.
  • Heated outdoor pool with loungers and a handy poolside bar.

Cons

  • Tourist-heavy block; cannabis smoke and loitering near entrance at times.
  • Some rooms and hallway carpets look dated with minor maintenance issues.
  • Valet, bottled water, and other extras feel expensive over multi-day stays.

Hunter C.

Worth the upgrade for the Hollywood Sign view — we watched it glow at sunset right from our bed.

Why it stands out

Inside the former Bank of Italy, you still pass a working bank vault to reach the restrooms, then ride up to a rooftop pool with skyline views.

The hotel sits in downtown on South Olive Street, a few minutes’ walk to Pershing Square and the Metro. Grand Central Market, the Orpheum Theatre, and Walt Disney Concert Hall are close. Inside, rooms blend vintage charm with modern comfort. Expect high ceilings, rich textures, and, in some layouts, a soaking tub or a bath set within the room. Some courtyard-facing rooms look into other rooms, so keep the curtains drawn for privacy.

Design leads here. The lobby restaurant, cozy bar, and sunny rooftop invite you to linger from morning espresso to late-afternoon swims. It suits couples and style-minded friends who want atmosphere, plus solo travelers who like a lively base with places to work or relax.

There are tradeoffs. The rooftop is popular, and weekend parties or private events sometimes limit access. Downtown’s nightlife and street noise can carry to lower floors, and valet parking costs add up.

Pros

  • Rooftop pool with skyline views and a fun daytime scene.
  • Restored historic bank building with elegant lobby and vault corridor.
  • Walkable to Pershing Square, Grand Central Market, Orpheum Theater.
  • On-site restaurant and morning coffee bar serve quality food and drinks.

Cons

  • Rooftop pool and venues sometimes close for private events on weekends.
  • Valet parking is pricey and retrieval times can be long.
  • Downtown street noise and nightlife may reach some rooms.

We walked through a real bank vault to reach the bathrooms—so cool. Sunset drinks by the rooftop pool made the whole stay feel special.

Why it stands out

At citizenM Los Angeles Downtown, you check yourself in, run your room by an iPad, and reach Grand Central Market in about five minutes.

The hotel sits on Spring Street in the Historic Core. Pershing Square Metro is a short walk, and Little Tokyo, the Bradbury Building, and The Last Bookstore sit close by. The neighborhood feels lively by day and gritty after dark. Rooms are compact and consistent: a wall-to-wall king bed, powerful shower, and blackout blinds. You control lights, blinds, temperature, and TV with an in-room iPad. Storage tucks under the bed, and many rooms have big windows with city views.

What stands out here is the social “living room” lobby. It doubles as a colorful workspace with books, art, and a bar for coffee or drinks. There’s a rooftop gym with city views for a quick workout. This setup suits solo business travelers, digital nomads, and couples who pack light. It also works for event-goers headed to venues downtown or anyone using the Metro to explore.

Tradeoff: rooms are small and the sink sits in the sleeping area. Also, there’s no on-site parking, so expect to use nearby public garages and walk a few minutes.

Pros

  • About five-minute walk to Grand Central Market and Pershing Square Metro.
  • Smart rooms with iPad controls, blackout blinds, and a comfy king bed.
  • Rooftop gym with city views and solid cardio and free weights.
  • Colorful living-room lobby with art, bar, and plenty of workspaces.

Cons

  • No on-site parking; nearby public garages require a short walk.
  • Compact rooms with bed against wall; limited space for luggage.
  • Area feels unsafe after dark, with visible homelessness nearby.

Abigail M.

Self check-in took two minutes, and the in-room iPad shut the blinds and lights—slept like a baby on that huge bed.

Why it stands out

Check in and catch tipoff fast: you’re 2 minutes from Crypto.com Arena at the JW Marriott L.A. LIVE.

The hotel anchors the L.A. LIVE district in Downtown. Walk a few minutes to the Peacock Theater, the Grammy Museum, and the Convention Center. Rooms feel calm after the bustle, with large windows for arena or skyline views and sound‑dampening glass.

This place shines for big events. Sports fans and concertgoers get the easiest base in the area. Conference travelers like the quick access and solid amenities, including a 24/7 fitness center and a large outdoor pool and hot tub. Dining and bars fill the plaza outside, so dinner is always close.

The event‑first location puts Hollywood and the beach 20–30 minutes by car. It suits trips built around games, shows, and meetings more than classic sightseeing.

Pros

  • Two-minute walk to Crypto.com Arena, Peacock Theater, and Grammy Museum.
  • Short walk to Los Angeles Convention Center for conferences and expos.
  • 24/7 fitness center with modern equipment, towels, and bottled water.
  • Large, quiet rooms with skyline or arena views and soundproof windows.

Cons

  • Valet-only parking with high daily rates and occasional retrieval delays.
  • In-room Wi‑Fi is not free and felt slow during stays.
  • Far from Hollywood and beaches; drives take about 20–30 minutes.

What travelers say

J

Jackson C.

We walked to Crypto.com Arena in about two minutes through L.A. LIVE, grabbed wings at Tom’s Watch Bar, and still made tipoff. Perfect base for a game night.

Methodology

How We Chose These Hotels

We researched over 450 hotels in Los Angeles using data from major travel websites and travel forums. We read thousands of guest reviews, analyzed pricing across seasons, and cross-referenced expert travel publications. Some of the hotels on this list were also visited and tested by our team. We prioritized genuine traveler feedback over marketing promises and selected properties that consistently deliver on their promise.

Hotels were ranked using a combination of key criteria, including overall guest satisfaction, value for money, location, room quality and design, and standout features. We did not rank hotels based on affiliate commission rates. Our rankings reflect our genuine editorial assessment and what we believe offers the best experience for different traveler types.

This list is reviewed and updated quarterly. Prices shown are indicative and vary by date, season, and availability. Last fully reviewed: June 2026.
